notes: First show of the Todos Santos Music Festival. Soundcheck started with Jeff Tweedy solo (& Spencer Tweedy joining on drums). Filthy Friends - Peter Buck (Guitar), Scott McCaughey (Bass & Vocals), Kurt Bloch (Guitar), Bill Rieflin (Drums) & Corin Tucker (vocals). For their soundcheck, as Corin hadn't arrived yet, the remaining band members played all songs as instrumentals.
For the main set, Peter, Scott, & Josh were the backing band to Kevn Kinney. Peter Buck (on guitar) & Mike Mills (on backing vocals) joined the Old 97's on 'Driver 8', & Old 97's finished their set with just Rhett Miller joined by Josh Kantor on 'Life On Mars?'. Peter introduced Jeff Tweedy, who performed solo, but for the last song 'California Stars', he was joined by Spencer Tweedy, John Stirratt, Pat Sansone, Peter Buck (guitar), Mike Mills (backing vocals), Scott McCaughey, Joseph Arthur, James Haggarty & Josh Kantor on stage.

Before the Old 97's set, Peter curated an auction of 'Paint-A-Saint's' painted by Juan Manuel Torreblanca, Ken Bethea, Mark Eitzel & a painting by Frankie. Jeff Tweedy finished off the evening with a band set, completed with a roving set of musicians on the last song including Mike Mills on 'All The Young Dudes'.

John Paul Jones joined Steve Wynn, Chuck Prophet & Kevn Kinney during their respective sets on mandolin, Mike Mills joined Gary Louris & Josh Kantor on acoustic guitar & vocals on 'Blue', but couldn't remember all the words. notes: Night 4 of the Todos Santos Music Festival (1st night of the 2nd weekend). At soundcheck, Drive-By Truckers performed "Heroes", & Peter Buck joined The Jayhawks on guitar on 'Quiet Corners & Empty Spaces' & 'Pretty Roses In Your Hair'. The Baseball Project were joined by Peter, & both Mike & Peter joined Kevn during his soundcheck. At the main show, Fernando Viciconte opened proceedings, followed by The Baseball Project including Peter, then a roving circle of musicians helping Kevn Kinney. Joseph Arthur during his short set was helped by John Jackson on violin. After Joseph was an auction curated by Peter of more 'Paint-A-Saints', this time painted by Joseph Arthur, Mike Mills (went for $US1600), Steve Wynn, & Holly Selph/Shayni Rae, as well as a Peter Buck autographed drawing. Chuck Prophet was next, then The Jayhawks joined by Chloe Johnson, Peter Buck & Mike Mills during the set. Drive-By Truckers performed the new song 'What It Means', finishing with David Bowie's "Heroes". Death Cab For Cutie finished the night, including another Bowie song 'Valentine's Day'.

Preceding the 'Mentors' Exhibition Opening, (of which Michael Stipe was participating in), Michael & curator Rick Herron participated in a conversation about Michael's role as an artist & experiences with art. As the exhibition showed works which reference or are inspired by their respective mentors, Michael picked John Giorno (known from one of the 'We All Go Back To Where We Belong' video versions). One of Michaels pieces was a video installation of the video, with Michael's actual vocal track that he used when filming the video with John Giorno & Kirsten Dunst, played in the gallery. Other pieces by Michael included his bronze cassettes & the 'Escape Hatch Case' book. The exhibition continued to 5 January 2017.
